Slow & Sacred: Ease through summer at Faith-Based Yoga

Join me for Faith-based yoga this summer to slow down and look for the sacred in the ordinary moments.

I hope this is a space for you to find nourishing movement, to calm your mind and body and to be still to know God is God.

In class this past week, I read from a seasonal devotional I love, Every Season Sacred, to set our transition into summer.

The summer months are swathed in what the church calendar calls Ordinary Time. In spring, we observe Lent and Easter. In winter, we celebrate Advent and Christmas. But summer invites us to slow down and relish the reality that God is with us in the slow moments…These moments of Ordinary Time invite us to reflect on the glorious truth that God calls us beloved children, desiring our presence.

Author, Kayla Craig goes on to say, “There are times we need to sit. To wrestle in the waiting. To quiet our physical lives so the spiritual part of us may rest.”

I love that a faith-based yoga practice allows us to incorporate this right into our day, exactly as we are.

We know that mindfulness, meditation and lowering stress have immense physical, emotional and cognitive benefits. Your time in a faith-based yoga practice, or anytime you enter into the presence of the Lord, is never wasted. He will be faithful to meet you there.

Hope to see you on the mat this summer. Join me every Tuesday and Thursday at 4:30 p.m. at the Cleveland Family YMCA.
